Wow, one month down already! Can you believe it? I planned to dedicate February to all things red and pink in honor of Valentine’s Day; crafts, home décor, gift ideas, etc. But right before I sat down to write out my first post of February, I changed my mind. Instead, I am dedicating February to ME! And by ME, I mean all the things that help me feel at my best; the activities that help me de-stress and re-charge. This is my month of self-love.
The past few months have been crazy busy. January was dedicated to cleaning up the aftermath and setting goals for 2017. Now that I have my home put back to its old self and my 2017 goals are set, I can put aside some much-needed time for myself. In February, I will dedicate a post each week to a different category of “Do You”: Getting Physical, All Dolled Up and Mental Vacation.
Do You Focus #1: Getting Physical
I feel my best when I am eating right, sleeping well and being active. I will focus some time each week to working out, searching the internet for quick and easy clean recipes to add to my Doug-approved meal list and writing out bi-monthly meals plans / grocery lists. The plan is to schedule the time into my week and after a few weeks have it be automatic. In this post, I will talk about my struggles with maintaining a workout schedule in the winter months and how I am overcoming these road blocks, share my meal planning routines and provide my Top 10 clean eating recipes.
Do You Focus #2: All Dolled Up
I LOVE hair and makeup. I could spend hours watching YouTube videos about how to get the perfect messy hair look or glam party makeup. While I’m not always in a full face of makeup, most days my hair is thrown up in an elastic and my makeup is minimal at best, when I have a reason to get all dolled up you best believe I go all out. One to two hours meticulously blending out the perfect smoky eye with my hair up in hot rollers, the music is blasting and a cocktail in my hand…yup that is one of my happy places. I fully intend to veg out this month and catch up on my YouTube subscriptions. I will also do a Top 10 of my fave YouTubers post plus share some of my ride or die beauty products.
Do You Focus #3: Mental Vacation
Finally, I will spend some much-needed time doing the activities that bring me joy. I have a list that I started late last year of all the activities that make me happy; those things that make you forget time, forget about your responsibilities and just make you smile. My plan is to commit to completing at least 1 of these activities each week in February. I will share those activities and discuss other ways to mentally vacate the winter blues.
